Robert Bosch Stiftung at Leipzig Book Fair
Stuttgart – March 15, 2007
It is becoming increasingly difficult to define European cultures in terms of national boundaries. The continent must be viewed instead as a joint site of history and culture. The programs of Robert Bosch Stiftung help promote literature as a place where cultures intersect. The foundation presents its programs and organizes discussions at Leipzig Book Fair. The schedule of events is presented at the end of this document.
Programs of Robert Bosch Stiftung at Leipzig Book Fair:
Adelbert von Chamisso Prize
This literature prize has been awarded annually in Munich since 1985 to authors whose native language is not German, but whose works present an important contribution to German literature.
Grenzgänger
Authors can receive research travel grants for publications that focus on making Central and Eastern European developments accessible to a wide audience both in Germany and beyond, and promote dialog and mutual understanding.
Literarische Brückenbauer (Literary Bridge Builders)
This program supports literary translators with ongoing education, workshops, and stipends. The program aims to promote dialog and networking, the status of translators in the literary scene, and public awareness of the art of translation.
Literary workshops for young people
At Literaturhaus Stuttgart, young people can develop their writing skills, publish their own texts, and hold public readings. There are workshops for prose, rap, wordplay, drama, and comics.
Culture Mangers from Central and Eastern Europe
University graduates from Central, Eastern, and Southeast Europe are invited to Germany for a one-year qualification program in international culture management. The scholarship holders work in German cultural institutions and create their own projects to present the cultural variety of Central and Eastern European countries with special emphasis on young artists and networks of artists.
Turkish Library
The Türkische Bibliothek consists of 20 volumes that present milestones in Turkish literature from 1900 to today. Publication of the series began in 2005. It aims to help German readers explore the cultural world of modern Turkey.
