Jugend debattiert - Youth Debating Competition in Baden-Württemberg
The "Jugend debattiert" competition is open to students from all school types and divided into two age categories: grades 8-10 and 11-13. Debating means adopting a point of view, stating your reasons, and expressing criticism, whether competitively or constructively. Each one of these skills is important in today's communication-based society.
The project is run jointly by the Hertie-Stiftung foundation in partnership with the Mercator Stiftung, Heinz Nixdorf Stiftung, and the Robert Bosch Stiftung, and designed to bring rhetoric and high-level linguistic expression into the classroom, practice democratic behavior and impart students and teachers alike with communication skills through rhetorical training.
The participating schools in Baden-Württemberg and the regional competition in Baden-Württemberg are funded by the Robert Bosch Stiftung.
The 2008 regional finals was held in the city hall in Stuttgart on March 14.
